What do you do for yourself

July 29th, 2007 at 01:50 pm

It seems like I have no problem making clothing purchases or things for the home but recently and good friend and neighbor convinced me that I needed to do something just for me. My choice has been to have my hair done every six weeks this cost around $80.00 each time but does make me feel good. I also have started getting my nails done every two weeks with a pedicure every three weeks. I know there will be some imput as to what a foolish expense this is and I really can't agree with you more. I have found that this makes me feel better about myself so as long as I can work it into the budget I am going to continue. What do you do for yourself?

In the grand scheme of things doing something nice for yourself is important thought. Big Grin
For me it would be very recently taking an aerobics class and enjoying the gym. I feel like I have donated my body to my kids for the last few years, and now that they aren't using it/destroying it any longer - I want it back. LOL. But with the kids I haven't really felt like I have had much time for *me* either. So since I have been out and doing something totally for me it feels good. It may sound pathetic but it feels like a totally selfish endeavor considering how much I give to my family. Nice to just do something for myself. I haven't swung the time or money since I had kids, so it is nice to have both now to enjoy.

I have a date night out with my husband almost every night.

Not a whole lot actually. I'm a really low maintenance kind of guy. My idea of a good time is spending an hour online reading these blogs and the forums and updating my financial spreadsheet.

Vacations would be the one thing that I feel strongly about. We travel several times/year. I enjoy going new places, seeing new things and taking a break from my daily routine.

I guess one other thing that comes to mind is visiting the casino. I only recently started doing that since Atlantic City finally passed a smoking ban in April making a visit to the casino enjoyable rather than health-threatening. I've been down 3 times since April and also made one trip to one of the PA racinos (racetrack-casino).
